The underlying substrate—whether fiberglass, aluminum, or wood—must be completely free of dirt, salt residue, mold, grease, and old adhesive. We recommend a thorough cleaning using a grease-cutting detergent, followed by a final wipe-down with isopropyl alcohol (99% purity) using a lint-free cloth.
Once the surface is dry, dry-fit the custom-cut sheets to verify placement. Peel back a small section of the 3M pressure-sensitive adhesive backing, align the sheet precisely with the margins, and press down firmly. Gradually peel the remaining backing while applying uniform pressure from the center outwards using a roller tool. This prevents air bubbles and ensures a 100% watertight seal around the perimeter, preventing moisture intrusion that could compromise the adhesive bond over time.
