To achieve maximum performance and longevity, proper preparation and installation are essential. Faux teak marine flooring is designed to be user-friendly, but following industry-standard guidelines ensures a permanent, bubble-free bond.
The installation surface must be completely clean, dry, and free of oils, grease, dust, or wax. We recommend cleaning the area with isopropyl alcohol or acetone before application. Any surface irregularities or old adhesive residues must be sanded smooth to ensure uniform contact with the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Dry-fit all panels first to verify alignment and margins. Once aligned, peel back a small portion of the backing film, position the panel carefully, and press down firmly. Gradually peel away the remaining backing while smoothing the panel from the center outward to prevent air pockets. Use a rubber roller to apply uniform pressure across the entire surface.
Unlike natural wood, faux teak EVA flooring is extremely easy to clean. Regular rinsing with fresh water and a mild deck soap is sufficient to remove dirt, salt residue, and fish blood. Avoid using high-pressure washers closer than 12 inches or harsh acid-based cleaners, which can degrade the polymer structure over time.
